Program Instructors

Dr. Michael Miyasaki
Dr. Michael A. Miyasaki began practicing in Sacramento, CA, 37 years ago. He has spent his career trying to learn new things, and then share with his colleagues. He has organized and taught live treatment programs in different parts of the world. Today he works in his family dentistry-focused, fee-for-service practice. He has taught and written articles for decades and has been involved in R&D for various companies. Today he teaches on aesthetics, restorative techniques, occlusion, implants, endodontics, lasers, and more. This course brings all this together and gives him an opportunity to share with his colleagues.

Dr. Charles Smurthwaite
Dr. Charles Smurthwaite is a graduate of the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry. He received a Master's Degree in Biology from Southern Illinois University and a Bachelor’s degree in Zoology from Brigham Young University. He has received advanced training in Laser Periodontal Therapy, Neuromuscular Occlusion from the Las Vegas Institute, and Orthodontics from Invisalign and the Strait-wire Academy.

Dr. Ronny Rasi
Dr. Ronny Rasi is a Roseville-based dental practitioner providing comprehensive care in family and cosmetic dentistry. His practice offers a variety of treatments, ranging from the first examinations and sealants for children to full mouth reconstructions for adults, all in a relaxed and caring environment.

Dr. Tim Herman
Dr. Tim Herman graduated from the UCSF School of Dentistry in 1988. He has practiced at A+ Dental Care since January 1989. He is the managing partner of their seven location multispecialty group dental practice. Dr. Herman’s interests are in comprehensive evaluation and care of his patients. He is a Vivos Integrated Provider and uses Vivos’ CARE appliances to treat his group’s patient’s airway and sleep needs. He enjoys mentoring young dentists and collaborating with his partners to achieve the best possible outcomes for their patients.


Program Schedule

7:30am (breakfast/check-in)

Weekend 1 – Preparation
Day 1 – Lecture – 8am to 5pm
In-depth, interactive presentation and lecture covering:
A thorough understanding of smile design principles and the role they play in anterior aesthetics
Ideal preparation design for porcelain veneers
How to fabricate beautiful provisional restorations and use them for patient and laboratory communication
Post-op evaluation of provisionals : aesthetically, functionally, and phonetically to insure a successful result
How to properly communicate all necessary information to the laboratory including photography, stick bite, facebow, impressions, occlusal records, and the written prescription
Group case review with presentation and treatment planning of all cases

Day 2 – Clinic – 8am to 5pm
Preparation of an anterior aesthetic case (with instructor - live patient hands-on)
Utilizing laser and other technologies: laser contouring
Digital impressions
Temporization made easy and consistent utilizing a functional diagnostic wax-up
Material selection
In-clinic laboratory assistance
Intraoral photography and digital cameras

Weekend II – Cementation
Day 3 – Lecture – 8am to 5pm
Indirect restorative materials, adhesives, and cements
Step by step adhesive cementation of anterior aesthetic restorations
How to adhesively bond zirconia
Conventional cementation of zirconia
Understanding the role of occlusion for long term success

Day 4 – Clinic – 8am to 5pm
Step by step cementation of an anterior aesthetic case (live patient hands-on) with a simple technique for predictable results every time
Experience a variety of cases during cementation in a friendly, supportive learning environment
Occlusal adjustments and final polish
Graduation and diploma presentation

COURSE FEE - Scholarship by selection (Value $5900)
The course fee includes one doctor and one team member. Additional team member - $300.
Breakfast and lunch are provided each day.
